The idea behind Duende Travels was to help others experience the magic and mystery, the duende, of the world. Armed with the friends we’ve met, the tricks we’ve learned, and the connections that we’ve made through our partnerships with leading hotels and Virtuoso, we think we have the perfect recipe to make each and every client’s trip the adventure of a lifetime. Meet Claire.
Claire moved to Madrid, Spain in 2013, as she split her time working as an English teacher and as an assistant to a Virtuoso travel advisor. After countless trips, lots of hours in the classroom, and one postgraduate degree, in 2021 Claire made the jump to become a travel advisor herself, and she created Duende Travels, where she is in charge of planning all adventures to the last detail.
Claire has helped many friends and acquaintances plan their perfect trips over the years. She loves working on trips to Spain, her second home, but any destination where food is involved is a fast favorite! Her most memorable travel experience is “learning” to surf in the Algarve, Portugal. After several hours of instruction and encouragement from the world’s most patient surf instructor, she was able to stand on the board for about 3 seconds, until she got wiped out by a wave. Still worth it.
